Students at two colleges in Chicago have been put on alert following reports of a man sexually abusing women near their campuses in the Loop and Rogers Park. Loyola University and Columbia College issued warnings to their communities after two separate incidents were brought to light through social media.

According to Loyola University officials, three female students reported that a man had grabbed them on Monday evening. The first incident occurred at the front entrance of Mertz Hall, located at 1125 West Loyola, around 8:37 p.m. The man then proceeded to the north stairs of the building where he touched another woman, followed by a third student who reported being touched on the corner of Loyola and Sheridan at 8:41 p.m. The suspect was described as wearing a grey and black puffy coat, khaki color pants, white shoes, and carrying a brightly colored shopping bag.

Columbia College also informed its community about a similar incident in the Loop on Tuesday. Chicago police are investigating an incident in which a man grabbed a woman’s lower body outside the Harold Washington Library around 9:30 a.m. However, the college did not provide a description of the offender.

On Wednesday, videos surfaced on Twitter showing the same man being confronted by women for allegedly touching them inappropriately at CTA stations. One incident took place at the Fullerton station in Lincoln Park, while the other occurred at State-Lake in the Loop. The videos show the man wearing similar clothing to the description provided by Loyola, but it is unclear if he is the same individual responsible for the reported incidents.

Notably, the Fullerton station is situated in the middle of the DePaul University campus. However, the school has not reported any incidents involving its community. The lack of information on the suspect’s race in Loyola’s alerts has raised concerns about transparency and public safety.

The videos shared on social media have sparked outrage and calls for action to protect women from potential predators in public spaces. It is essential for universities and law enforcement to work together to ensure the safety of students and community members.

As investigations continue, it is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to authorities. By working together, we can create safer environments for everyone.
