An arrest has been made in the recent car theft that impacted Miami’s new quarterback, Carson Beck, and his girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, who is also an athlete for the Hurricanes and a social media influencer. Tykwon Deandre Anderson, 20, was taken into custody early Friday morning on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling masked, grand theft, and grand theft of a vehicle, according to a police report from Miami-Dade County Corrections.
The incident was first reported on Thursday, revealing that three vehicles belonging to Beck, 22, and Cavinder, 24, had been stolen overnight in South Florida. Initially, it was reported that an SUV belonging to Cavinder, who plays for the Hurricanes’ women’s basketball team, had been recovered. However, Beck’s Lamborghini and Mercedes were still missing at the time of the initial report.
Subsequently, it was confirmed that the Mercedes was found in South Miami, but the Lamborghini was still unaccounted for. The suspects allegedly entered Beck’s residence while he and Cavinder were asleep to steal the car keys, using the garage to gain access to the house. According to reports, the suspects obtained entry through Cavinder’s white Range Rover, which had the garage door opener.
Anderson, who allegedly took the Lamborghini after acquiring the key fob, was apprehended early Thursday evening. Beck and Cavinder, who have been in a relationship since last summer, are the latest in a series of high-profile athletes who have fallen victim to home robberies.
Earlier incidents involved burglaries at the homes of Chiefs’ stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in the fall, as well as a break-in at Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s Ohio residence in December while he was away for a football game in Dallas. A group of seven Chilean migrants were charged in connection to those incidents.
Beck, who recently transferred to Miami after five years at Georgia, where he played as a quarterback for the last two years, committed to the Hurricanes in January after changing his plans for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently recovering from elbow surgery following an injury sustained during Georgia’s SEC Championship win over Texas in December.
On the other hand, Cavinder is in her second season at Miami, playing alongside her twin sister Haley. Both sisters were part of the Hurricanes’ Elite Eight run in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Hanna took a break from basketball but announced her return last April.
