Colorado Men Arrested for Attempting to Launch Drugs and Tobacco into Federal Prison Using Air Cannon

In a bizarre turn of events, two Colorado men, Jose Francisco Herrera Munoz, 18, and Angel Gonzales Gutierrez, 19, were caught trying to use an air compressed cannon to launch drugs and tobacco over the fence of the Federal Correctional Complex in Pollock, Louisiana.

The duo attempted to fire a whopping $112,000 worth of tobacco and $89,500 in methamphetamine into the prison grounds using the air cannon, which has the capability to propel objects over 350 feet. The cannon, similar to those used to launch T-shirts into crowds at large events, was seized by authorities.

According to reports from WBAZ, the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office was tipped off about the plan and launched an investigation into the matter. Both suspects were subsequently arrested for attempting to introduce contraband into a penal institution and trying to distribute methamphetamine.

Additionally, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) joined the investigation, leading to Munoz’s detention. Munoz, who was in the U.S. illegally, now faces deportation as a result of his involvement in the failed smuggling attempt.
