FilmRise, a prominent film and TV studio based in New York, has recently introduced an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing the visual quality of its content through a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) software and human expertise.

The company’s first project under this new initiative involves the conversion of the popular true crime series “Forensic Files” into high definition. By utilizing a blend of AI technology and manual editing, FilmRise has successfully remastered all 326 episodes across 12 seasons, offering viewers a revamped viewing experience. These upgraded episodes are now available for streaming on various platforms including The Roku Channel, Amazon Prime Video, and Tubi.

CEO Danny Fisher expressed his excitement about this new endeavor, stating, “This initiative reflects FilmRise’s dedication to improving the viewer experience for our audiences and streaming partners alike. We are constantly striving to enhance the quality of the content we acquire and distribute to cater to the needs of our viewers and partners.”

The AI-driven solution behind the remastering process was developed by FilmRise’s technology team, led by Chief Technology Officer Thibault Hermenault. By combining cutting-edge AI tools with the expertise of the company’s editorial team, FilmRise has been able to efficiently upscale older content without compromising on quality.

Thibault Hermenault highlighted the benefits of this hybrid approach, stating, “The new AI tools have opened up exciting possibilities for us to bring the restoration process in-house. Our unique process allows us to quickly and cost-effectively upgrade older content while still maintaining a human touch, ensuring that viewers can fully appreciate the difference.”

Scott Hemming, Executive Vice President at Content Partners, the IP holder of “Forensic Files,” commended FilmRise for their innovative restoration efforts. He emphasized the importance of preserving and enhancing iconic content, and praised FilmRise for their commitment to maintaining the legacy of the series.

In addition to “Forensic Files,” FilmRise has plans to extend this AI-driven process to other titles in its extensive library, which includes over 30,000 movies and TV episodes. The studio is actively seeking partnerships to expand its HD offerings, such as the 4K remaster of the indie classic “Party Girl” and the acquisition of “Death Valley Days” in high definition.

With its groundbreaking initiative and commitment to quality, FilmRise continues to lead the way in enhancing the viewer experience and revitalizing classic content for modern audiences.
