CNBC has once again partnered with market research firm Statista to compile a list of the top financial technology companies around the world. This annual list includes a diverse range of companies, from startups to established tech players, and aims to evaluate them using an objective, key performance indicator-based methodology.

To be considered for inclusion in this prestigious list, companies must primarily focus on developing innovative, technology-based financial products and services. Applications are now open for companies to submit their information for review by Statista’s researchers. Companies headquartered in the U.K., which is the largest fintech market in Europe based on funding raised, will also be considered for a separate list of the U.K.’s top fintech companies.

Last year, fintech startups in the U.K. raised an impressive $3.6 billion in venture capital, solidifying the country’s position as a global fintech hub. The U.K. is also home to Revolut, Europe’s biggest fintech unicorn with a staggering $45 billion valuation.

To apply for consideration, companies can fill out a form on Statista’s website, which includes questions about their business model and key performance indicators such as revenue growth and employee headcount. The deadline for submissions is April 25, 2025. For any inquiries or assistance with the application process, companies can reach out to Statista at topfintechs@statista.com.

Successful companies will be categorized based on their business model, with insurance technology being a new addition to the list this year. Other categories include payments, neobanking, digital assets, alternative financing, wealth technology, and enterprise fintech. Last year’s list featured well-known brands like Mastercard and Ant Group, as well as global unicorns such as Nubank and Klarna, demonstrating the diversity and innovation present in the fintech industry.

Overall, the CNBC-Statista collaboration provides a valuable platform for showcasing the most innovative and impactful fintech companies from around the world, highlighting the dynamic nature of the financial technology sector.
