SpaceX is gearing up for the eighth test flight of its Starship rocket, with plans to catch the Super Heavy booster using mechanical arms known as “chopsticks” at the launchpad.
The upcoming launch aims to build upon the previous test, which ended in a dramatic implosion of the Starship over the Caribbean less than 9 minutes after liftoff.
If successful, this test will mark only the second time SpaceX has managed to execute a Starship launch along with a Super Heavy booster catch.
When is the launch scheduled?
Starship Flight 8 is set to take off no earlier than 6:30 p.m. EST on Monday from SpaceX’s Starbase facility near Boca Chica Beach, Texas.
The launch window is 60 minutes long, giving a timeframe between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. for the actual liftoff.
As space launches are subject to change, SpaceX will provide live updates on their website.
What can we expect from this launch?
