Colorado officials, entrepreneurs, and executives came together on the west steps of the Colorado Capitol to announce the declaration of March 3 as “Buy Colorado Day,” a new state holiday dedicated to celebrating local brands and businesses.
Also known as “303 Day,” this holiday aims to boost the state’s economy during a slow retail season by encouraging support for Colorado businesses and communities. The legislation has also designated this week as “Buy Colorado Week.”
“Buy Colorado Day is more than just shopping—it’s about investing in the innovative businesses that make our state a great place to live and work,” said Colorado native Ricardo Baca, founder of Buy Colorado Day and other Denver businesses like Grasslands, The Underground Music Showcase, and Biome.
According to the holiday’s official website, Colorado is the birthplace of globally recognized products like Crocs, Jolly Ranchers, and Coors Banquet Beer. The state has a rich history of innovation, from the Denver Boot to the Chipotle burrito.
Buy Colorado Day, set to launch in March 2026, has partnered with companies like Outside Inc., Topo Designs, and Stranahan’s to promote local businesses and celebrate Colorado’s outdoor heritage. The initiative aims to connect with a global community that appreciates the mountain-inspired lifestyle.
“Buy Colorado Day is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our state’s spirit and connect with a global audience that shares our love for the Colorado lifestyle,” said Topo Designs CEO Matt Williams.
Colorado boasts over 700,000 small businesses, 13,000 restaurants, 500 craft breweries, nine Fortune 500 companies, and a myriad of creators, makers, and service providers.
