The popular crime drama series “Criminal Minds: Evolution” has been officially renewed for Season 19, even before the premiere of Season 18. This exciting news was reported by Variety.
Season 18 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” is set to make its debut on Paramount+ on May 8, with new episodes being released weekly thereafter. The series continues the story from the original “Criminal Minds,” which aired for 15 seasons on CBS.
The revival of “Evolution” has brought back many beloved characters from the original series, including Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, and Aisha Tyler, along with newcomers Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. RJ Hatanaka and Zach Gilford also joined the cast when the series was revived in 2022.
Season 18 of the show picks up six months after the events of the previous season, focusing on the aftermath of an attack on the notorious Sicarius Killer, Elias Voit (played by Zach Gilford). The BAU team must now work with Voit to prevent further chaos orchestrated by his followers on the dark web.
Erica Messer serves as the showrunner and executive producer of “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” with Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw, and Mark Gordon also serving as executive producers. The series is a production of 20th Television and CBS Studios.
While Matthew Gray Gubler, known for his role in the original “Criminal Minds,” has not appeared in “Evolution” yet, he remains connected with CBS. Gubler is set to star in the CBS drama pilot “Einstein,” where he plays the great-grandson of the renowned scientist and uses his intellect to solve crimes. The pilot is currently in production.
