An NYPD officer was involved in a terrifying crash in Manhattan on Friday morning when he was struck by an out-of-control car and pinned between two vehicles. The 26-year-old officer was walking to his car on West 13th Street in the West Village around 7:12 a.m. when a black Dodge Charger traveling southbound on Seventh Avenue collided with a sanitation street sweeper.

The driver of the Dodge Charger, a 43-year-old man, lost control of the vehicle and hit the officer, trapping him between his police cruiser and the sedan. The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital in stable condition for treatment. Although the extent of his injuries is unclear, he is expected to recover.

The driver of the Dodge Charger was also taken to Bellevue Hospital after complaining of pain and has since been taken into custody. Charges are pending as the investigation into the crash continues.

The dramatic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers on the job. It highlights the risks they take every day to protect and serve their communities. The NYPD officer’s quick response and the swift actions of first responders likely prevented a more serious outcome.

As the investigation unfolds, more details will emerge about the circumstances surrounding the crash. In the meantime, the NYPD is urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads and be mindful of emergency personnel working to keep the streets safe.
