A shocking incident occurred on a Brooklyn subway when Earlton Massenburg Jr. became the victim of a random attack. Massenburg, a 31-year-old Amazon deliveryman, was on his way to work when he was abruptly awakened by a searing pain on his face. He had been slashed by a stranger wielding a sharp object, leaving him with a deep gash that required numerous stitches.

Despite the presence of surveillance cameras and increased police patrols in the subway system, Massenburg’s attacker managed to flee the scene, leaving him with a gruesome injury. The attack is just one in a series of violent incidents that have occurred on the New York City subway in recent months, highlighting the need for increased safety measures.

In response to the rise in subway crimes, the NYPD has implemented quality-of-life patrols in Queens and plans to expand them citywide. These patrols aim to crack down on minor infractions and improve overall safety in the subway system. While overall crime in the subways is down, incidents like Massenburg’s serve as a stark reminder of the dangers that commuters face on a daily basis.

Despite the trauma of the attack, Massenburg returned to work the next day and continues to make the two-hour commute to Staten Island. He remains determined to move past the incident and focus on other aspects of his life. As his attacker remains at large, Massenburg’s story serves as a sobering reminder of the unpredictability of violence in public spaces.
