SPOILER ALERT:
This article contains spoilers for Episode 4 of “Daredevil: Born Again,” now streaming on Disney+.
Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, has made his long-awaited return to the MCU.
In the latest episode of “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) comes face-to-face with his old acquaintance and violent vigilante as he investigates the murder of White Tiger (Kamar de los Reyes).
After White Tiger’s innocence is proven in court, he is tragically shot and killed on the street by an unknown assailant. Matt sets out to find the killer, initially suspecting corrupt cop Powell (Hamish Allan-Headley). However, after interrogating Powell, Matt’s super-senses reveal that Powell is not the culprit.
During his investigation, Matt realizes that the bullet casing rolled into a drain cover due to the sloped street. Following the evidence, he tracks down the Punisher, who is hiding in a secret lair.
The reunion between Matt and Frank is fraught with tension. Frank questions Matt’s motives, prompting a heated exchange about their differing approaches to justice. As they discuss their shared losses, including the murder of Foggy, their conversation escalates, leading to a physical altercation. Despite their differences, they ultimately find common ground and part ways.
Executive producers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead commend Bernthal’s performance in the episode, highlighting his emotional depth and nuance. They particularly praise a poignant scene from “The Punisher” where Frank visits his wife’s grave.
The mystery of White Tiger’s killer deepens with the introduction of a mysterious serial killer named Muse, who may be connected to the crime. Additionally, Mayor Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, emerges as a potential suspect, revealing his continued involvement in criminal activities.
As the plot thickens, viewers are left wondering about the true identity of White Tiger’s killer and the extent of Kingpin’s influence in the unfolding events.
