At the Malaga Film Festival’s series sidebar, Atresmedia’s latest series, “Perdiendo el juicio,” made its debut as a light-hearted legal drama. The storyline revolves around a respected lawyer whose career takes a drastic turn after a serious OCD outburst during a trial.

Produced by Atresmedia and Boomerang TV, the series brings together the creative minds behind the successful show “Alba,” with award-winning actress Elena Rivera in the lead role. Montse García, Atresmedia’s director of fiction, and Luis Santamaría from Boomerang TV serve as executive producers, alongside creators and screenwriters Susana López Rubio and Javier Holgado.

The inspiration for “Perdiendo el juicio” stemmed from the popularity of “Alba,” prompting the team to explore a legal procedural with a compelling lead character and a strong initial premise. The series is designed to engage viewers with episodic plots intertwined with overarching storylines throughout the season. Filmed on real locations, the production boasts high-quality visuals and a talented artistic team.

Elena Rivera’s portrayal of the lead character adds depth and versatility to the series, showcasing her acting prowess and dedication to the role. The creators managed to strike a balance in tackling obsessive-compulsive disorder, blending lighthearted moments with the weight of the protagonist’s personal struggles and legal cases.

Directed by Jaime Olías, María Togores, and Pablo Guerrero, “Perdiendo el juicio” is set to premiere on Spanish SVOD platform Atresplayer on March 23 before its primetime launch on Antena 3. The series promises to captivate a wide audience while reviving the appeal of procedural dramas in television.

García emphasizes the universal themes and relatable characters in “Perdiendo el juicio,” making it a potential hit both in Spain and internationally. The show’s ability to resonate with viewers worldwide lies in its exploration of stress, anxiety, and second chances, set against a backdrop of suspense, comedy, and romance.

In addition to “Perdiendo el juicio,” Atresmedia is showcasing its new musical series “Mariliendre” at the festival, which follows a group of gay friends in Madrid reminiscing about their past and the musical hits of their youth. Scheduled to premiere on Atresplayer in April, the show promises a nostalgic and entertaining journey for viewers.

With its engaging storyline, talented cast, and universal themes, “Perdiendo el juicio” has the potential to become a standout series that resonates with audiences both at home and abroad. Its seamless integration into the world of procedural dramas marks a refreshing return to a genre that has captivated viewers for years.
