Print Week in New York City is set to showcase a diverse range of artists spanning nearly six centuries of printmaking. From Albrecht Dürer and Rembrandt to Kiki Smith and Amy Sherald, the event promises to be a celebration of the art form. The International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) Print Fair, the largest show of prints and editions, will be the main attraction. This fair will feature 75 exhibitors, including galleries, private dealers, and studios, along with special installations and a lineup of artist discussions and panels.

One of the highlights of the IFPDA Print Fair will be a presentation of new works by the Black Women of Print collective, as well as rare prints by artists like Robert Rauschenberg and Philip Guston. Additionally, the Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair will offer a platform for self-representing artists, bookmakers, and galleries to showcase their work and engage in workshops and talks.

Another must-visit exhibition during Print Week is “Krishna Reddy: Heaven in a Wildflower” at Print Center New York. This exhibition features more than 50 prints by the late Indian artist Krishna Reddy, highlighting his innovative viscosity printing technique. The show also includes sculptures, ephemera, and working materials from Reddy’s prolific career.

For those interested in collaborative art, the exhibition “Dynamic Duos: The Art of Working in Pairs” at the New York Public Library will explore the historical aspects of collaboration in printmaking. Showcasing works by artistic duos from the past four centuries, this exhibition offers a unique insight into the dynamics of working together in the art world.

In addition to exhibitions, Print Week will also feature panel discussions and talks. One such event is the “Black Artists in Mexico Talk” at the Park Avenue Armory, focusing on the printmaking work of Black artists in Mexico, including Elizabeth Catlett and John Wilson. Another exciting event is “Metal Imprint” at King Killer Studios, a fusion of an art fair, metal concert, live tattoo sessions, and a cardboard robot showdown.

To cap off Print Week, David Zwirner gallery will host a discussion between artist Josh Smith and master printer Valpuri Remling, offering a deep dive into their collaborative work. With a diverse range of events and exhibitions, Print Week in New York City promises to be a vibrant celebration of printmaking artistry.
