The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported that a babysitter in Great Bend, Kansas, had a terrifying experience when she discovered a man hiding under one of the children’s beds on Monday night. The babysitter, trying to reassure the child that there was nothing under the bed, was shocked to come face-to-face with the suspect. An altercation ensued, and one child was knocked over during the struggle. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr., fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Deputies responded to the emergency call around 10:30 p.m. and later apprehended Villalobos the following morning after a brief chase. He is currently held at the Barton County Jail on a $500,000 bond. Villalobos faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, felony obstruction of an officer, and violation of a protection order.
