A Florida woman found herself in hot water after allegedly committing a sticky crime against a Tesla vehicle. Yamaris Marrero was charged with felony criminal mischief for reportedly smacking a “large wad” of chewing gum onto the electric car, causing nearly $3,000 worth of damage in the process. The incident, which occurred in the JC Penney parking lot at Aventura Mall in Miami-Dade County, was captured on the car’s built-in cameras.

The owner of the Tesla expressed his frustration, feeling like he was being “gum-ished” due to what he perceived as a divide in the country. He referenced Tesla founder Elon Musk’s controversial role in the Trump Administration as a possible motive behind the vandalism.

Marrero, a 45-year-old resident of Hallandale Beach, was apprehended by mall security after being spotted in the food court. She reportedly admitted to the crime, which resulted in $2,623.66 in damage to the mechanism of the car door’s handle. As a result, she was taken into police custody on a $2,500 bond.

The act of vandalism not only caused financial harm but also drew attention to the consequences of such actions. The severity of the charges reflects the seriousness with which authorities view acts of criminal mischief. It serves as a reminder to always respect others’ property and refrain from engaging in destructive behavior.
