Melissa Aouate Named President of Blumhouse Television

Melissa Aouate has been appointed as the new president of Blumhouse Television, taking over the reins of the scripted TV division. Aouate, who previously held the position of president and partner at Fabel Entertainment, brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

In her new capacity, Aouate will be responsible for overseeing the creative team at Blumhouse Television, which has produced popular series such as “The Bondsman” starring Kevin Bacon on Amazon Prime Video, “Sharp Objects” featuring Amy Adams on HBO, and the upcoming Amazon series “Scarpetta” with Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.

While Aouate will focus on the scripted TV division, Gretchen Palek will continue to oversee Blumhouse’s unscripted TV slate. Additionally, Rob Hackett will remain the head of television for Atomic Monster, a label within Blumhouse.

Prior to her time at Fabel Entertainment, Aouate served as a literary agent at ICM Partners and worked as an executive at Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers. During her tenure at ImageMovers, she contributed to projects such as “Flight,” “The Walk,” “Real Steel,” “Beowulf,” and “The Borgias.”

Abhijay Prakash, president of Blumhouse, expressed his excitement about Aouate joining the team, stating, “We’re incredibly fortunate to have found Melissa to lead Blumhouse’s scripted television division. Melissa brings exceptional taste and an impressive track record of success with both edgy and mainstream fare.”

Aouate also shared her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “Blumhouse has built one of the most innovative brands in film with bold, visceral storytelling that resonates with all kinds of audiences. I couldn’t be more excited to lead the effort to expand on that sensibility for television.”
