An incident at a Brooklyn high school involving an illegal migrant with a history of previous arrests has sparked concern among the community. José Duran Enrique, a 45-year-old man from Nicaragua, entered the High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology in Bay Ridge and groped a 16-year-old girl before being confronted by a teacher.

Duran Enrique quickly fled the scene but was apprehended by police shortly after. He was charged with burglary, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment. During his arraignment, prosecutors requested a higher bail amount, but he was ultimately held on a lower bail or bond.

This is not the first time Duran Enrique has been in trouble with the law. With nine prior arrests, including incidents of trespassing, larceny, and burglary, he has a history of criminal behavior. He has failed to appear in court on multiple occasions, leading to warrants being issued for his arrest.

In a concerning turn of events, Duran Enrique was apprehended by Customs and Border Protection in 2022 but was released on parole into the United States. He spent over a year in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody before bonding out in 2024.

The incident at the high school has raised questions about the handling of illegal migrants with criminal backgrounds and the potential risks they pose to the community. It serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough background checks and proper enforcement of immigration laws to ensure public safety.
