In the early hours of Sunday morning, a series of robberies were reported on the Clark Street bar strip in Chicago. Police are currently investigating these incidents, with at least two of them appearing to be connected.

The first victim encountered by officers in the 3500 block of North Clark around 1:50 a.m. reported being physically attacked by three men who robbed him of his phone and wallet. The suspects were last seen heading south on Clark Street. A second victim approached patrol officers around 2:40 a.m. with a similar story – after meeting the robbers inside a nearby bar, he was led into an alley where he was robbed.

Subsequently, a third victim reported being robbed on Clark Street around 3 a.m. when he walked into the Town Hall (19th) District station at 850 West Addison. These incidents are reminiscent of a warning issued by the Chicago Police Department last month, alerting the public to a group of armed men targeting bargoers waiting for rideshares at closing time in the Wrigleyville area.

The modus operandi of the robbers involves approaching victims, displaying a gun or using force to steal their valuables. In some cases, the robbers have even accessed the victims’ bank accounts through stolen phones. CPD has linked five robberies to last month’s pattern, with three of them occurring in the 3500 block of North Clark – the same area where Sunday’s robberies took place.

This series of incidents highlights the importance of remaining vigilant and cautious, especially in popular nightlife areas. It is crucial to be aware of your surroundings and take necessary precautions to ensure your safety. The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate these robberies in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further incidents from occurring.
