In a preview of the meeting, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted that the agenda will focus on their shared initiatives to deport terrorists and how El Salvador’s collaboration with the U.S. is becoming a benchmark for other nations engaging with the current administration.
Additionally, it was announced that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will join President Trump for discussions on Thursday, April 17.

The partnership between Trump and Bukele emphasizes a strategy to expel violent gang members and illegal aliens labeled as terrorists from the United States, with the plan to send them back to El Salvador. Here, it is reported that Bukele would detain them in his notoriously harsh prison system.
In a rather audacious move, Bukele has even called for the impeachment of activist judges who he claims are obstructing the Trump administration’s agenda and enabling the presence of undocumented immigrants in the U.S.
This meeting comes on the heels of a controversial order from a left-leaning judge mandating the Trump administration to facilitate the return of an MS-13 gang member implicated in human trafficking back to El Salvador.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has responded forcefully in court, asserting that “[A] federal court cannot compel the Executive Branch to engage in any mandated act of diplomacy or incursion upon the sovereignty of another nation.”
Bukele is slated to arrive at the White House at 11 AM ET and will convene with President Trump in the Oval Office, where they are expected to field questions from journalists.
