Google Gemini AI Assistant Now Able to Search Your Photos

Google has recently introduced a new feature to its Gemini AI assistant, allowing users to search their photos using natural language commands.

According to reports from 9to5Google, the Gemini app on Android is being updated to include a powerful Google Photos extension. This enhancement enables users to easily search for specific types of photos based on descriptions, such as ‘my photos shot from airplane windows’ or ‘recent selfies’. Additionally, the AI assistant can recognize relationships set in the Google Photos app, making it possible to search for specific individuals in your photo collection.

Moreover, the Gemini AI assistant now offers more advanced capabilities, including the ability to extract important details from photos. Users can ask questions like “what did we eat at the hotel in Stanly?” or “what’s my driver’s license number?” and receive relevant information from their photo library.

When viewing search results in the Gemini app, users can seamlessly transition to the Google Photos app to explore additional images based on their query.

How to Utilize Google Photos on Gemini

The new Google Photos integration on Gemini is currently being rolled out gradually to a limited group of users. While it may not be available to all users yet, those who have access can enable the feature by navigating to their profile menu within the Gemini app, selecting Apps, and locating Google Photos under the Media section.

Once activated, users can interact with Google Photos by using prompts like ‘my photos’ or ‘@ Google Photos’ to access custom albums from their Google Photos backup.

Although the feature is currently exclusive to select US users, it is expected to become more widely available in the near future.
