Protesters Tased and Arrested at Marjorie Taylor Greene Town Hall

During a town hall event hosted by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, two protesters were tased and several others were arrested after crashing the gathering.

One protester at the Acworth Community Center in Georgia shoved a police officer while being removed, resulting in the deployment of Tasers by two officers.

Multiple disruptions occurred throughout the event, with at least six protesters being escorted out by law enforcement, leading to three arrests, two of which involved the use of tasers.

Greene’s office had pre-screened attendees to ensure they resided in her district, but one of the arrested individuals provided a driver’s license with an address outside of the 14th Congressional District.

Police officers were threatened and physically resisted during the removal of disruptive individuals, with one protester providing false identification.

Andrew Russell Nelms and Johnny Keith Williams were charged with simple battery and obstruction of a law enforcement officer, while Kiyana Davis was arrested for violating a city ordinance on vulgar language.

Despite the disruptions, Greene expressed satisfaction with the removal of protesters, emphasizing that the event was intended as a town hall, not a political rally or protest.

House Republican leaders have advised members to opt for virtual events over in-person town halls due to recent incidents of disruption by Democratic allies.
