Multiple Garages Burn in Lincoln Park Overnight

Early this morning, a fire ravaged through at least five garages in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, leaving investigators scrambling to determine the cause of the blaze.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to the scene in the alley between the 2000 blocks of Dayton and Fremont around 3:15 a.m. A “still and box” alarm was declared, bringing additional resources to combat the flames that had engulfed garages on both sides of the alley.

As firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire, Chicago Police Department officers went door-to-door, urging residents to evacuate their homes as a precautionary measure in case the fire spread further.

Fortunately, no residents were displaced, and there were no reported injuries as a result of the fire. By 4 a.m., the fire department spokesperson confirmed that the blaze was essentially under control.
