A shocking incident in Hawaii has left a community in disbelief as a teenager faces up to 10 years in prison for his involvement in the theft and slaughter of a beloved pet pig named Eddie. Jayden Jarnesky-Magana, 19, along with accomplice Krys Ryan Saito-Carino, 20, reportedly stole Eddie from Sarah Haynes’ Maui farm in a cruel attempt to cheat their way into winning a $1,000 hunting contest prize.

The gruesome act was captured on video as the two men’s dogs viciously attacked Eddie, leading to his untimely death. The pair then proceeded to kill and gut the pig before entering him into a local “biggest pig” hunting contest. However, their plan was foiled when hunters at the contest became suspicious of the neutered pig’s unusually heavy weight, which differed from the typical wild pigs entered into the competition.

Despite their efforts to deceive the judges, Haynes recalls that Eddie was too heavy for Jarnesky-Magana and Saito-Carino to carry from their truck to the weigh-scale. Nevertheless, the duo managed to walk away with the $1,000 prize money for the biggest pig hunted.

Following a police investigation, both Jarnesky-Magana and Saito-Carino were arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Jarnesky-Magana later changed his plea to no contest on felony counts of first-degree animal cruelty and livestock theft, each carrying a maximum five-year sentence. Saito-Carino is also expected to change his plea to no contest.

Haynes, who had rescued Eddie years ago after he was found running around with scars and rope burns from potential hunting dog training, has organized a rally outside the Wailuku courthouse to raise awareness about animal cruelty. She expressed her devastation over the loss of Eddie, describing him as a friendly and gentle soul who deserved better after experiencing cruelty in his past.

While Haynes does not wish to ruin the lives of the teenagers responsible, she believes they should face consequences for their actions. She emphasized that the incident was not an innocent mistake but a planned attack on her beloved pet. Despite the heartbreaking outcome, Haynes remains determined to seek justice for Eddie and raise awareness about the importance of treating animals with compassion and respect.
