This week, more than 100 civilians gathered peacefully outside the White House to voice their support for the overthrow of the oppressive Iranian regime, a government that has long been synonymous with brutality and repression.

The demonstrators, primarily American conservatives, advocated for the temporary reinstatement of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, the last heir to Iran’s pre-1979 monarchy. This call to action stems from a deep-seated desire for change in a country that has seen decades of oppression, including the imprisonment and execution of dissenters, all while casting a shadow over the broader Middle East.

Fluent in English, Crown Prince Reza earned his political science degree from the University of Southern California, having initially resided in the United States in 1978 for military training with the Imperial Iranian Air Force at Reese Air Force Base in Texas. Following the passing of his father, Mohammad Reza Shah, in 1980, he took on the mantle of head of the royal family while living in exile in Cairo, Egypt.

Although the U.S. Department of State chose to officially recognize the totalitarian Iranian regime in 1980, Crown Prince Reza took a different route, establishing an Iranian constitutional monarchy-in-exile in 1986. Nearly four decades later, his website features a resolute statement: “I will not rest until Iran has a national, democratic and elected government of the people,” showcasing his long-standing commitment to democratic ideals.

In recent years, Crown Prince Reza’s movement for reform has garnered significant attention and support. Following President Trump’s re-election on November 14, 2024, he took to social media to declare, “Iranians should reclaim our beloved Iran,” offering his readiness to lead a transitional government.

In April 2025, this sentiment was echoed by his supporters during a spirited protest outside the White House, as captured in video footage from the Gateway Pundit. One protest leader emphasized Crown Prince Reza’s widespread recognition in Iran, stating, “His name has echoed throughout Iran, from rooftops to soccer stadiums, reflecting the trust placed in his leadership. He has consistently advocated for a free Iran and called for a democratic referendum, empowering Iranians to determine their future.”

The protestors asserted that Crown Prince Reza’s liberation movement promises a peaceful transition, ultimately leading to democratic elections determined by the will of the people.

Crown Prince Reza has also made inroads with influential world leaders. In July 2024, he spoke at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington, D.C., and in January 2025, he urged President Trump to prioritize the dissolution of the current Iranian regime rather than pursuing a nuclear deal. Furthermore, he participated in the Munich Security Conference in February 2025, reinforcing his position on the global stage.

The composition of the Iranian government is not merely a domestic issue; it holds significant geopolitical implications. Unlike many typical left-wing protests in America, the “Crown Prince Reza for a Free Iran” gathering radiated a sense of hope and positivity. Attendees, adorned with Royal Iranian flags, engaged in peaceful expressions of support without threatening public safety.

As one protestor—who wished to remain anonymous due to concerns for her family’s safety—told the Gateway Pundit, “We should expect such protests for a free Iran to continue for a very long time in Washington, D.C.”
