Mayor Eric Adams made an appearance on a Fox News show hosted by Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of President Trump, where he defended ICE, highlighted the impact of the migrant crisis on the city, and criticized those who resist the Trump administration’s agenda.
During his interview on “My View with Lara Trump,” Adams, now an Independent candidate, discussed his decision to bring Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers back to Rikers Island prison, despite facing a lawsuit from the City Council.
He emphasized that ICE is not a criminal organization but part of law enforcement, and stressed the importance of removing dangerous individuals from the streets. Adams also mentioned that 80% of New Yorkers believe that undocumented individuals who commit dangerous acts should be deported after serving their time.
Adams also discussed the financial burden facing the city due to the Biden administration’s immigration policies, mentioning that funds could have been allocated to other critical areas like education and housing.
When asked about New York’s Sanctuary City policy, Adams stressed the role of the federal government in immigration control while ensuring that migrants in the city feel safe accessing essential services.
He highlighted the importance of children attending school and residents feeling comfortable reporting crimes to the police, emphasizing the need for safety and security in the city.
