OpenAI Introduces Enhanced Memory Feature for ChatGPT

OpenAI has recently unveiled a significant upgrade to ChatGPT, enhancing its memory capabilities once again. The new feature, known as “Memory with Search,” allows ChatGPT to access past conversations and information to improve search queries.

This update follows OpenAI’s recent enhancement of ChatGPT’s memory feature, allowing the AI to access a user’s entire chat history. The introduction of “Memory with Search” is part of OpenAI’s strategy to set ChatGPT apart from other AI chatbots like Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini, both of which also offer memory capabilities.

According to OpenAI’s documentation, when Memory with Search is active, ChatGPT can utilize relevant information from past conversations to refine search queries. For instance, if ChatGPT knows a user is vegan and lives in San Francisco, it may modify a query for restaurant recommendations to focus on vegan options in the user’s location.

Users have the option to enable or disable Memory with Search in the ChatGPT settings menu. While it is unclear which users currently have access to this feature, some accounts on social media platforms like X have reported seeing Memory with Search in action.
