The Miami Dolphins are gearing up for the 2025 NFL Draft, where they are expected to add a running back to their roster. In a recent mock draft by NFL.com’s Chad Reuter, the Dolphins are projected to select Ollie Gordon II from Oklahoma State in the fifth round with the 155th overall pick. With ten picks in hand, Miami has the luxury of waiting to address the running back position due to the deep pool of talent at the position this year.

Gordon, a former Doak Walker Award winner, had a stellar 2023 season, leading all of FBS in rushing yards and touchdowns. However, his draft stock took a hit after a subpar 2024 season and off-field issues, including a DUI arrest. His performance at the NFL scouting combine also did not help his case, recording a below-average 40-yard dash time.

Despite these setbacks, Gordon has shown the potential to be a valuable asset with the right support system. Standing at 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, he brings a physical presence to the backfield that could benefit the Dolphins. If Miami is keen on acquiring Gordon, they may opt to use one of their fifth-round picks on him.

Gordon recently visited the Dolphins on a pre-draft visit along with Jacory Croskey-Merritt of Arizona. Once touted as one of the top running backs in the draft, Gordon’s stock has slipped, making him a more attainable option for Miami in the middle rounds. With the departure of Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert in free agency, the Dolphins are in need of a running back for the upcoming season, alongside Alexander Mattison.

Looking ahead, Gordon could be groomed behind De’Von Achane and Jaylen Wright as the team’s future running back. Despite his recent struggles, Gordon has the potential to make a significant impact with the right guidance and support from the coaching staff.

In conclusion, the Miami Dolphins are eyeing Ollie Gordon II as a potential addition to their backfield in the upcoming NFL Draft. With his physicality and potential, Gordon could be a valuable asset for the team moving forward. Stay tuned for more updates as the draft approaches.
