Former White House Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Fauci Reaps Financial Rewards Post-Retirement

Since stepping away from his government role, Dr. Anthony Fauci has been cashing in quite handsomely, reportedly earning around $3.5 million in the year following his retirement. This financial windfall, revealed through a financial disclosure by the watchdog group Open the Books, underscores the lucrative opportunities that often accompany high-profile public service positions, especially when linked to a global crisis.

“Dr. Fauci’s wealth surged during the most stringent COVID lockdowns, a time when families and small businesses faced unprecedented hardships,” stated John Hart, CEO of Open The Books, in comments to the Daily Caller. “Even as he enjoyed taxpayer-funded security while mingling with industry groups like AHIP, his wife maintained a significant position at NIH.”

The Daily Caller further elaborated:

Fauci’s financial records indicate he received multiple six-figure payments totaling $1.15 million throughout 2023, as documented in a comprehensive 141-page disclosure obtained by Open The Books.

However, the documents notably lack specifics regarding the sources of these substantial deposits.

Leveraging his prominent role as a trusted authority during the pandemic, Fauci has enriched himself in 2023, precisely as Congressional investigators began probing the potential breaches of trust he may have committed during the crisis.

In March 2023, Fauci inked a deal with a subsidiary of Penguin Random House for a memoir valued at approximately $5 million. This announcement coincided with revelations from a congressional memo suggesting Fauci had a hand in influencing a pivotal study that downplayed the lab-leak hypothesis for COVID-19 origins. Shortly thereafter, on July 1, 2023, he took on a distinguished professorship at Georgetown University, straddling both the School of Medicine and the School of Public Policy. This move came just weeks before two co-authors of the aforementioned paper testified before Congress about their collaboration with Fauci.

Fauci has also supplemented his income through various speaking engagements, including events for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores and American Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).

In addition to his speaking fees, Fauci received accolades such as Columbia University’s Calderone Prize, which includes a $50,000 award, as well as the National Academy of Medicine’s Lienhard Prize, valued at $40,000.

According to Open The Books, Fauci’s previous salary as a government employee was an extraordinary $480,654, making him the highest-paid among the approximately 2.4 million federal employees, including the sitting president. He continues to draw a six-figure pension in retirement.

Moreover, on January 20, Joe Biden issued a pardon for any potential offenses Fauci may have committed since 2014, adding another layer to the narrative surrounding his post-government life.
