The Chicago Police Department recently made a significant arrest in connection with a series of high-end home burglaries that have been plaguing the city for months. Gregory Miller, a 36-year-old man from Justice, has been charged with 13 residential burglaries and an attempted residential burglary. However, authorities believe that Miller and his accomplices may be responsible for even more break-ins.

According to officials, Miller and his crew specifically targeted upscale homes in neighborhoods like the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Bucktown, and West Town in order to steal valuable jewelry, cash, and other items. The group allegedly ransacked more than a dozen homes, making off with property worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Miller’s criminal activities date back to at least April 2023 when he was accused of burglarizing a home in Chinatown. Despite this, prosecutors allowed him to plead down to a misdemeanor trespassing charge in February 2024. Just three months later, he struck again, this time in Humboldt Park, where he stole up to $200,000 in jewelry from a family’s home on West Haddon Street.

The list of luxury homes targeted by Miller and his crew includes addresses on North Wood, Maud, Erie, and Race Streets, among others. The crew’s brazen activities were captured on surveillance video when they burglarized a home in Bucktown on North Leavitt Street. Despite a police warning, the group continued their criminal spree, hitting more homes in Dickens and Churchill.

Miller’s distinctive appearance, including his hairline and earrings, were repeatedly captured on surveillance footage, leading Judge Rivanda Doss Beal to order his detention pending trial. She described Miller as a “danger to high-end residents in Chicago” and emphasized that he targeted these homes to steal the most high-end items available.

When questioned by police, Miller reportedly claimed that he committed these crimes to support his relatives. However, his actions have had far-reaching consequences, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake. As the case unfolds, authorities are working to bring justice to the victims of these brazen burglaries.
