Google has recently announced the release of a software update for all Pixel Watch smartphone users, aimed at addressing a number of issues that were prevalent after the March Pixel Drop update. The initial update promised significant improvements for Pixel Watch users but unfortunately, it led to some problems for certain users.

Some Pixel Watch users found themselves stuck on the November 2024 build of Google’s wearable OS, rendering them unable to update to the latest version. Additionally, those who were able to update discovered that the step tracking feature had become highly unreliable in certain scenarios.

In response to these issues, Google has now rolled out Wear OS 5.1 to all Pixel Watch users globally in an effort to resolve any lingering issues. This update, labeled as the April Pixel Watch update (version BP1A.250305.019.W8), is available for Pixel Watch 1, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3 wearables.

The new update aims to address the issues with the step count accuracy. Google has decided to revert the step algorithm enhancements to the previous stable version to ensure better accuracy in tracking steps and detecting deviations in walking patterns.

The April Pixel Watch update also brings some additional features for users who may have missed the March update. Pixel Watch 2 owners will now have access to the Auto-bedtime Mode, previously exclusive to Pixel Watch 3, which automatically detects when the user falls asleep and turns off the watch face and notifications. On the other hand, Pixel Watch 3 owners will now have the ability to track menstrual health, allowing them to log periods, view cycle status, and predict the next period using the Fitbit app.

Overall, the Wear OS 5.1 update for Pixel Watch aims to address the issues faced by users following the March update and enhance the overall user experience. With these improvements, Google hopes to ensure a smoother and more reliable performance for Pixel Watch users moving forward.
