In the realm of political media, Fox News has transformed under the Trump administration from a traditional conservative outlet into what could be described as a mouthpiece for the White House. It has become a reliable source for disseminating the administration’s views, always packaged in a favorable light.

However, Trump’s relationship with Fox News has hit a snag, particularly concerning the network’s polling data, which has consistently shown unfavorable results for him. In an effort to soften these findings, Fox News has frequently chosen to present the numbers in a way that aligns more closely with the administration’s narrative.

This backdrop makes the latest polling results from Fox News particularly striking.

Even with their usual spin, the numbers reveal some unassailable truths:

Trump enjoys his highest approval ratings on border security, with 55% of respondents expressing approval. However, this is the only issue where he garners positive feedback. His approval rating on immigration stands at a record high of 47% (with 48% disapproving), while his economic approval has hit a new low at 38% (with 56% disapproving). His ratings are notably poor on inflation (33% approve, 59% disapprove), tariffs (33-58%), foreign policy (40-54%), taxes (38-53%), and guns (41-44%).

Overall, Trump’s job performance approval sits at 44%, a decline from 49% in March. Notably, this is lower than the approval ratings of Joe Biden (54%), Barack Obama (62%), and George W. Bush (63%) at the same point in their presidencies. Additionally, it represents a decrease from Trump’s own 45% approval rating at this time eight years ago.

A significant 59% of voters express dissatisfaction with the current state of the country. While this marks an improvement from the end of Biden’s term (68% dissatisfied), it is worse than the 53% dissatisfaction rate at the beginning of Biden’s presidency and at the 100-day mark of Trump’s first term.
