James McClain, a 37-year-old man who was previously charged with two residential burglaries last month, is now facing additional charges for committing more burglaries in the months leading up to his arrest. Chicago police arrested McClain last month for allegedly burglarizing a residential building in the 5800 block of North Kenmore twice in February. He was arrested again recently after appearing at the Skokie courthouse for a routine hearing in that case.

Prosecutors have now linked McClain to three more residential burglaries in Lakeview and Uptown that occurred earlier this winter. On December 18, he allegedly broke into an apartment building in the 3000 block of North Southport and stole a bike. Then on January 16, he burglarized a condo building in the 2800 block of North Halsted, taking another bike. Finally, on February 27, he allegedly stole $2,500 worth of Super Mario figurines from a storage area in a condo building in the 4700 block of North Kenmore.

Despite the new charges, Judge Susana Ortiz released McClain, but ordered him to be placed on 24/7 electronic monitoring. This means that he will be closely monitored to ensure that he complies with the conditions of his release.

CWBChicago, a local news outlet focused on providing accurate public safety reporting, was founded in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the information provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. The coverage area of CWBChicago has since expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. The mission of CWBChicago remains the same: to offer original public safety reporting with more context and detail than mainstream media outlets.
