In a remarkable display of frustration, Senator Cory Booker is once again making headlines.
This past Sunday, alongside House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Booker orchestrated a ‘sit-in’ protest on the steps of the Capitol.
In a statement, the Democratic duo asserted, “Republican leaders have clearly indicated their intent to push through a reckless budget proposal to President Trump that threatens to dismantle essential services like Medicaid and food assistance, all in the name of granting tax breaks to billionaires. With so much at stake, these upcoming weeks could prove critical for seniors, children, and families—perhaps the most significant in generations.”
This latest act of defiance follows Booker’s record-setting speech in the Senate, where he passionately addressed the chamber for over 24 hours.
Earlier this month, an animated Booker took to the Senate floor, passionately criticizing both President Trump and Elon Musk for a staggering duration, leaving no stone unturned in his lengthy oration.

On Sunday, Booker and Jeffries welcomed supporters to join them via livestream for what they dubbed “An Urgent Conversation with the American People.” Unfortunately, the turnout was dismal.
The protest turned out to be a lackluster affair, reminiscent of a 90s rap video with hardly anyone in attendance.
