A cold front brings snow to the mountains and thunderstorms to Denver

On Wednesday night, a cold front is expected to move into Colorado, bringing snow to the mountains and thunderstorms to Denver, as predicted by the National Weather Service.

Between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday, thunderstorms and rain showers are likely across the Denver area and Eastern Plains, according to NWS forecasters. The rainy weather is anticipated to continue into Thursday afternoon.

While the mountains and foothills will experience snow instead of rain, little to no accumulation is expected, as stated in the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Forecasters predict that isolated areas above 8,000 feet could receive between 4 and 10 inches of snow, as mentioned in a statement.

Some storms may bring gusty winds and small hail, according to the outlook.

Temperatures are expected to reach 70 degrees in Denver on Wednesday but will drop to the mid to upper-50s on Thursday, the forecasters said. Warm and sunny weather in the high-70s is forecasted to return over the weekend.

Following this, the city and Eastern Plains will experience another round of scattered storms early next week, along with slightly cooler temperatures.
