The New York Times Games app recently introduced a new feature that allows users to compare their scores with friends on a leaderboard. And now, players have the opportunity to compete with some of NYT Games’ most dedicated celebrity puzzlers. However, this offer is exclusive, as only the first 100 users who add the lineup of celebs will get to play with them.
The lineup of celebrity puzzlers includes jazz singer Laufey, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” star Lola Tung, Bravo staples Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan, and “Abbott Elementary” star Chris Perfetti. Users can add these celebrities to their leaderboards on a first-come, first-served basis starting May 8 at 10 a.m. E.T. Direct links to add the stars will be available via NYT Games’ blog and the celebs’ Instagram Stories. The celebrities’ scores will be visible in the app until May 11.
Laufey expressed her excitement about the new leaderboard feature, stating that playing NYT Games with friends like Lola Tung has become a daily tradition for her. She believes that adding celebrity puzzlers to the mix will make the gaming experience even more fun and engaging.
The multi-game leaderboard feature was initially rolled out on April 22, and according to NYT Games senior product manager Ian Hipschman, the engagement on the Friends tab has been positive.
