Jeremy Renner Turned Down ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2 After Half Salary Offer

Jeremy Renner recently opened up about the delay in the second season of the popular Disney+ series “Hawkeye.” In a candid interview with High Performance, the actor revealed that he was offered only half of his salary from the first season to return for Season 2. Renner expressed his disappointment at the offer, stating that it would require double the effort for half the pay and eight months of his time.

The actor hinted that the reduced salary offer may have been influenced by his near-fatal snowmobile accident in 2023. Renner was hospitalized with severe injuries after being run over by a Sno-Cat while trying to help his nephew in Lake Tahoe. The accident left him with multiple broken bones and orthopedic injuries, which required extensive medical treatment.

Renner expressed his frustration with the negotiation process, particularly with the production company’s decision to offer him less than he had earned for the first season. Despite his love for the character of Clint Barton, Renner stood his ground and refused to accept the insulting offer. He emphasized that he was not asking for more money, just the same amount he had received for the previous season.

While Renner is disappointed by the situation, he remains open to the possibility of returning to “Hawkeye” in the future. He acknowledged the toll that the physical demands of the role can take on his body and expressed gratitude for the break. The actor concluded by expressing his love for the character and his willingness to revisit the role if the opportunity arises.

The first season of “Hawkeye,” which also featured Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh, premiered on Disney+ in late 2021 to critical acclaim. Marvel has not yet commented on the status of the second season or Renner’s statements.

Fans of the series will have to wait and see if Renner will reprise his role as Hawkeye in future installments. In the meantime, the actor is focusing on his recovery and taking the time to prioritize his health and well-being.
