A disturbing incident took place on a subway train in Greenwich Village, where a man was forced into a lewd act by a finger-sniffing perpetrator. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Azeem, 36, allegedly approached a 27-year-old man on a northbound 1 train near the Christopher Street station around 4:15 a.m. last Saturday. The victim was subjected to unwanted advances and had his face forced into the perpetrator’s crotch area after being called “cute” by Azeem.

Following the attack, the victim managed to fight off his assailant, who exited the train at Christopher Street. The victim promptly contacted the authorities and was taken to Northwell Greenwich Village Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Azeem, a resident of Brooklyn, was apprehended at 2:50 p.m. after law enforcement released his images to the public. He is facing charges of first-degree rape and sexual abuse, as well as forcible touching.

This is not the first time Azeem has been in trouble with the law. In 2019, he was arrested for grand larceny auto, and he also has a previous arrest for indecent exposure at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Additionally, he has faced charges related to criminal possession of a controlled substance and theft of service.

During his arrest, Azeem made nonsensical statements to the press, denying any wrongdoing and claiming that neither he nor his victim were homosexual. Despite his protests, the evidence against him is substantial, including video footage showing him sniffing his fingers on the subway train.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among commuters, highlighting the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious behavior. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation. The safety and security of passengers on public transportation remain a top priority, and steps are being taken to ensure that perpetrators like Azeem are held accountable for their actions.
