Rain and Snow Expected in Colorado This Week
According to the National Weather Service, rain showers and thunderstorms are set to begin in southern Colorado on Monday morning, moving north throughout the day.
The spring storms will start near Pueblo before 9 a.m. and reach Denver after 2 p.m., as per NWS forecasters.
Forecasters are predicting up to half an inch of rain in southern Colorado on Monday, which is equivalent to about 6 inches of snow. Another 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected on Tuesday, totaling 13 to 39 inches.
Denver is anticipated to receive 1.34 inches of rain between noon Monday and 5 p.m. Wednesday. In winter terms, this would translate to more than 17 inches of snow.
Parts of Colorado’s mountains are still experiencing winter conditions. Forecasters have indicated that high elevation areas could see up to 2 feet of snow between Monday and Wednesday.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for several mountain ranges from Tuesday morning through Tuesday night.
Travel may be challenging along various routes due to the hazardous weather conditions, particularly impacting the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
The heaviest rain and snowfall is expected on Tuesday across Colorado.
