The battle of the smart rings continues as Samsung’s Galaxy Ring goes head to head with Oura’s Ring 4. Both rings offer a range of features to track your health and wellbeing, but which one comes out on top?

Design & Build:
The Samsung Galaxy Ring boasts a sleek design with a fully round, matte titanium finish available in gold, silver, and black. On the other hand, Oura’s Ring 4 offers a more traditional ring look with a variety of finishes to choose from. Both rings are comfortable to wear, with Samsung’s ring being slightly slimmer at 2.6mm compared to Oura’s 2.88mm thickness. Both rings are water-resistant up to 100 meters, making them suitable for swimming and showering. The Galaxy Ring’s charging case makes charging on the go easier, while Oura uses a cradle design.

Specs & Performance:
The Samsung Galaxy Ring is compatible only with Android phones, while Oura’s Ring 4 can be paired with both iOS and Android devices. Both rings track daily activity, sleep, heart rate, stress, skin temperature, and blood oxygen levels to provide insights into your overall wellbeing. Samsung offers automatic exercise recognition for runs and walks, while Oura allows data integration from Strava, Apple Health, and Google Health. Oura’s app offers more features focused on heart health and mental wellbeing, but requires a subscription for full access.

Other Key Differences:
In terms of sizing, Oura offers sizes 4 to 15, while Samsung provides sizes 5 to 15. Samsung’s ring supports a double pinch gesture feature for added smart functionality, allowing users to take photos or turn off alarms with a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. When used with a Galaxy Watch, the Galaxy Ring offers up to 30% longer battery life.

Price & Availability:
The Samsung Galaxy Ring is priced at £399/$399, while the Oura Ring 4 starts at £349/$349 and goes up to £499/$499 for gold or rose gold models. However, an additional subscription fee of £5.99/$5.99 per month or £69.99/$69.99 per year is required for full access to Oura’s features. Samsung does not charge any additional fees beyond the initial purchase price.

Verdict:
If you’re an Android user looking for an affordable smart ring with a sleek design and basic tracking features, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is a solid choice. However, if you want a more comprehensive health tracking experience with advanced software capabilities, the Oura Ring 4 is the way to go, despite the additional subscription cost. Choose the ring that best suits your needs and budget for a seamless integration into your daily life.
