Adrian Landon Brooks and Jaime Molina are showcasing their mixed-media sculptures and paintings in the duo exhibition “No Man’s Land” at Preacher Gallery. This exhibition delves into the possibilities of found materials, with each artist bringing their unique approach to the table.

Brooks is known for his intricate collages and layered pieces, where he uses bold lines, colors, and patterns to create a sense of newness intertwined with age. His work often features sacred symbols and merges various elements to create a visually stunning piece. On the other hand, Molina carves his “cuttys” from chunks of timber, incorporating nails to represent hair and beards on his solemn male figures.

The exhibition, “No Man’s Land,” is a journey into the enigmatic world of these two artists. Drawing inspiration from folk art and craft, Brooks and Molina explore geometry and assemblage techniques. Brooks’ pieces often feature cloaked figures and animal-human hybrids, adding a touch of mysticism to his work. In contrast, Molina’s sculptures of pensive figures delve into the mysteries of consciousness, creating a thought-provoking narrative that runs throughout the exhibition.

The gallery describes the artists’ work as “a shared world that feels both ancient and brand new—a thoughtful mix of mysticism, memory, and hand-hewn craft.” This sentiment is evident in each piece on display, showcasing the artists’ dedication to their craft and their ability to create a unique and captivating world through their art.

“No Man’s Land” opens on May 8th and will run through May 29th in Austin. To learn more about the exhibition and the artists, visit Preacher Gallery’s website.
