Berlin-based artist Macarena Ruiz-Tagle has created a series of interactive postcards that capture the essence of the sky on different days. While her Cyanometer and Sunset postcards have been a hit on Colossal, there is also a third version designed for those not-so-bright days – the Air Pollution postcard.

In a world where 99 percent of people breathe unsafe air, Ruiz-Tagle’s Air Pollution postcard is a stark reminder of the climate crisis we are facing. The design of this postcard reflects the pale pinks and grays of a polluted atmosphere, offering a visual representation of the gloomy and soiled air that many cities experience. By holding the postcard up to the sky and observing the corresponding hue, viewers are encouraged to confront the reality of air pollution in a tangible way.

This interactive card serves as a tool for tracking climate data in a grassroots manner, inviting contemplation on the impact of pollution on our environment. Ruiz-Tagle explains that the postcard evokes both the smog that engulfs global cities and the ethereal beauty of fog, creating a space for reflection within our troubled atmosphere.

The Air Pollution postcard, along with the Cyanometer and Sunset versions, can be found in the Colossal Shop. To explore more of Ruiz-Tagle’s work, visit her website.

Overall, Ruiz-Tagle’s Air Pollution postcard serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to address air pollution and its impact on our planet. Through art and activism, she encourages us to confront the reality of climate change and take action to protect our environment for future generations.
