A Lincoln Park resident, Charles Korman, has found himself behind bars after being accused of robbing his local 7-Eleven store multiple times in a week. Living just a block away from the convenience store at 2619 North Clark, Korman now resides in the Cook County Jail as he awaits trial.

According to prosecutors, Korman allegedly stole five bottles of wine from the store on April 1, followed by another five bottles on April 2. The following day, on April 3, he reportedly threatened the cashier with a gun-shaped object in his waistband, claiming he would shoot as he made off with six more bottles of Dark Horse wine.

Returning to the store on April 6, Korman once again threatened the cashier, this time taking between 15 and 20 bottles of wine and stuffing them into a backpack. Police reports indicate that he revealed a revolver in his waistband during this incident.

It was the consistency in Korman’s appearance during each robbery that ultimately led to his arrest. Police officers patrolling the area noticed his resemblance to the suspect, who was described as wearing a green sweatshirt, green winter cap, black face mask, and a single black glove during each theft. Upon apprehension near his residence on the 600 block of West Wrightwood, Korman was found to be in possession of a 5-inch knife and a carbon dioxide-powered pellet gun.

Initially facing charges of four counts of robbery, Korman was also charged with two counts of misdemeanor retail theft for separate incidents on March 30 and April 5, where he allegedly stole additional bottles of wine from the same 7-Eleven store. However, these specific charges are no longer being pursued.
