Police in Rogers Park are currently investigating a shooting incident that left a man critically injured inside an apartment building. The victim, a 51-year-old man, was found on the fourth floor of the building with a gunshot wound to his back. Authorities were called to the scene at around 12:42 a.m. after receiving a report of a “person shot.”
According to police reports, the victim was involved in an argument with another man prior to the shooting. A witness heard a loud noise before discovering the victim on the floor. Officers recovered a shell casing at the scene but were unable to locate the suspect, described as a Black man with a gray beard who is approximately 50 years old.
This incident marks the 11th shooting in Rogers Park this year. Comparatively, there were also 11 shootings by this time in 2024 and 2022. In 2023, there were 12 shootings at this point, while only four had occurred by May 11, 2021.
