Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Review: Hands-On

The long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has finally been unveiled, four months after it was first teased. This device marks Samsung’s return to the Edge phone series after almost a decade, boasting an ultra-slim design that sets it apart from the competition. At just 5.8mm thick, it is one of the slimmest smartphones currently available on the market.

Upon getting my hands on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, I was initially struck by its incredibly light weight of just 163g. In a time where many smartphones are pushing the 200g mark, the S25 Edge’s lightweight build is a refreshing change. Despite its large 6.7-inch display, the phone feels remarkably light and easy to carry around. Additionally, Samsung’s official cases provide added protection without compromising the phone’s slim and light design.

The durability of the S25 Edge is another impressive aspect, featuring a tough titanium frame and Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for enhanced crack protection. While the glass back may raise concerns, it didn’t feel fragile during my hands-on experience with the device. A comparison with the S25+ highlighted the stark difference in weight and thickness between the two phones.

Despite its thin and light design, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge manages to pack in top-notch features without significant compromises. It shares many similarities with the S25+, including a stunning 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and a 200Mp main camera borrowed from the S25 Ultra. The software experience is equally impressive, with One UI 7 and a commitment to seven years of OS and security updates.

However, some sacrifices have been made to achieve the slim profile of the S25 Edge. The smaller 3900mAh battery capacity, limited super fast charging at 25W, and the absence of a telephoto lens are notable drawbacks. The pricing of the device, starting at £1,099 in the UK, may also raise eyebrows given the competition in the market.

In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge offers a unique combination of slim design, lightweight build, and top-tier features. While the price and some compromises may deter potential buyers, the impressive achievement in design cannot be overlooked.
