In a recent episode of television drama masquerading as news, a left-wing commentator unleashed a veritable barrage of what can only be described as anti-white rhetoric, all while lamenting the plight of South African refugees. The topic at hand? The contentious resettlement of white Afrikaner farmers in the United States, and the scandalous notion that America might extend a hand to those facing racial persecution.

As many may already be aware, the Trump administration is facilitating the relocation of these farmers—victims of systemic violence and discrimination in a post-apartheid South Africa—to the United States. This move is seen by supporters as a necessary acknowledgment of the hardships endured by an ethnic minority that has largely been left to navigate a volatile environment. These farmers are not just mere figures in a political debate; they represent a crucial segment of South Africa’s agricultural backbone, with ancestry rooted in Dutch and French colonial history.

The inaugural group of these refugees arrived in the U.S. on Monday, greeted with American flags and a warm welcome from Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and DHS Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar. Notably, these arrivals included entire families, not just young men seeking to conquer a new territory under the guise of asylum.

However, the response from the left has been predictably incensed at the notion of America offering refuge to white individuals. Former Biden-Harris staffer Ashley Allison took to CNN to express her outrage. Her argument? That the current South African regime—dominated by the black majority—was entirely justified in seizing land from the Afrikaners. But it was her subsequent remark that truly drew ire:

If the Afrikaners don’t like the land, they can leave that country… They can leave and go to where their native land is, probably Germany or Holland.

One cannot help but draw parallels to the Jim Crow era, when African Americans were told to “go back to Africa.” Now, paradoxically, a black Democrat in America suggests that white refugees, facing genuine hardship, should vacate their homeland—yet again raising questions about the double standards in discussions surrounding race and belonging.

Consider the hypothetical uproar if a prominent figure were to suggest that Hispanic Americans should return to Mexico, or that Black Americans should go back to Ghana. The outrage would be immediate and deafening. However, the landscape shifts when the target of such remarks is a specific ethnic group deemed acceptable for criticism.
