Samsung Missed a Trick With The Galaxy S25 Edge

Samsung Missed a Trick With The Galaxy S25 Edge

The latest addition to the smartphone market is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, a super-slim phone that is sure to turn heads. While some may question the need for even slimmer phones, any change in the smartphone market is always welcome to keep things fresh. The Galaxy S25 Edge brings a new design to the table, but there is a missed opportunity that could have set it apart from the competition – a portless design.

Imagine a world where the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was the first portless phone to hit the market. This would have created a buzz and excitement around the device, making it stand out even more. With no USB-C port, the S25 Edge could have been even slimmer than its current 5.8mm profile. This would have not only added to its sleek design but also allowed for a larger battery capacity, addressing concerns about the phone’s longevity with its 3900mAh battery.

In addition to going portless, Samsung could have taken it a step further by eliminating the SIM card tray to make room for an even bigger battery. While eSIM technology is not yet widely adopted, this move could have pushed the boundaries of smartphone design. The off-centre placement of the USB-C port and other features on the bottom edge of the S25 Edge could have been avoided with a portless design, giving it a cleaner and more unique look.

Despite the S25 Edge’s “super fast” 25W charging capability, it falls short compared to its counterparts like the S25+ and S25 Ultra, which offer faster charging speeds. The absence of a charging brick from Samsung further emphasizes the need for faster charging options. While wireless charging is convenient, the 15W Qi speeds may not be sufficient for users who rely on quick charging.

Samsung has taken a bold step with the design of the S25 Edge, but there is a sense that they could have pushed the boundaries even further to create a truly groundbreaking device. As it stands, the S25 Edge is an interesting device, but it lacks that extra spark to make it truly revolutionary in the world of smartphones.

In terms of pricing, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is available for $1,099, making it a premium option for those looking for a sleek and innovative smartphone.
