New Zealand golfer Ryan Fox believes that his recent winning streak has propelled him to a strong start at the PGA Championship, securing a share of fourth place after his first round in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Fox began the major tournament with an impressive four-under 67, trailing three shots behind leader Jhonattan Vegas from Venezuela. This performance comes on the heels of his recent victory at the Myrtle Beach Classic, where he claimed his first PGA Tour title in a playoff just days ago.

Despite feeling fatigued leading up to the PGA Championship, Fox managed to maintain his momentum from his previous win. His limited preparation included a lone warm-up round at the Quail Hollow Club, but he was able to stay focused and play solidly throughout the day.

Joining Fox in fourth place are a group of players who also carded 67, including Ryan Gerard, Cam Davis, Luke Donald, Aaron Rai, Alex Smalley, and Stephen Jaeger. Meanwhile, top contenders like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy faced mixed results in their opening rounds.

Fox credited his newfound confidence for his strong performance, emphasizing the importance of mental resilience in a major tournament. He expressed satisfaction with his game and highlighted the significance of accepting both good and bad shots on the course.

Heading into the second day of competition, Fox remains optimistic about his chances and looks to build on his early success at the PGA Championship.
