A collection of recently disclosed text messages between Sean “Diddy” Combs and his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura offer a candid glimpse into their tumultuous 11-year relationship as the disgraced music tycoon stands trial on federal sex-trafficking charges in Manhattan.
The explicit messages, comprising 162 pages of legal documents, were unveiled after Combs’ legal team attempted to portray Ventura as a willing participant in Combs’ debauched “freak-offs.”
Additional text exchanges highlight disputes between the couple – with Ventura, 38, accusing the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper of treating her as a “sidepiece,” and him instructing her to reach out when she gets “[herself] together.”
This week, jurors were presented with a 2017 message where Ventura expressed her excitement about an upcoming “freak-off.” She also informed Combs that she had forgotten an iPad — which she claimed they used to document their intimate encounters.
Combs once texted Ventura to “have fun, impress me” as she headed to a sex shop to procure supplies for a “freak-off,” jurors were informed.
The court also reviewed messages exchanged between the pair on May 26, 2017 — towards the end of their relationship — regarding her visit to a sex shop named the Pleasure Chest. Ventura testified that during her visits to the adult store, she would acquire various sexual items such as lubricants and outfits.
The latest revelations emerged after Ventura, who is currently eight months pregnant, detailed a week of alleged rape, coerced sex, physical abuse, and other atrocities she purportedly endured at the hands of the embattled music producer throughout their tumultuous relationship spanning from 2007 to 2018.
Combs, aged 55, stands accused of trafficking women for sexual purposes during the “freak-offs” and other serious offenses. He has entered a plea of not guilty and could face life imprisonment if convicted.
