Denver International Airport experienced significant flight delays on Sunday due to severe weather conditions in Colorado, including thunderstorms, hail, and tornadoes. By 3:40 p.m., a total of 625 flights were delayed, with one cancellation reported, according to FlightAware.
Among the airlines, Southwest had the highest number of delays at 257, followed by United with 157 delays. Southwest also reported the only canceled flight at the airport that day. Other airlines affected by the delays included SkyWest, Frontier, Delta, Key Lime Air, and American Airlines.
In addition to the delays, flights arriving at DIA experienced 30- to 45-minute delays, with the Federal Aviation Administration anticipating further delays due to ongoing thunderstorms.
Various airlines, including Key Lime Air, Alaska Airlines, Air Canada, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Edelweiss Air AG, Southern Airways Express, Contour Airlines, and WestJet, also reported delays ranging from one to five flights.
