After the Denver Nuggets signed Russell Westbrook to a two-year, $6.7 million contract in October 2024, Aaron Gordon expressed his excitement and vowed to do whatever it takes to help Westbrook win a championship. However, after the Nuggets suffered a devastating loss to the OKC Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference semis, Gordon’s commitment to Westbrook was called into question.

Fans took to social media to share their reactions, with one fan humorously suggesting that Gordon might have to marry Westbrook to fulfill his promise. Another fan was more critical, stating that neither player is likely to see a championship in the future. Despite the skepticism, Gordon received praise for his efforts in the postseason, including a game-winning shot in Game 1 against the Thunder.

Unfortunately, Gordon suffered a hamstring injury in Game 6, limiting his performance in the crucial Game 7. Westbrook also gave his all, but the Thunder’s dominance proved too much for the Nuggets to overcome.

Looking ahead to next season, if Westbrook opts to stay with the Nuggets by exercising his player option, Gordon could have another chance to help him chase a championship. Westbrook has found success playing alongside Gordon, Nikola Jokic, and Jamal Murray in Denver, making it a promising destination for a title run.

The Nuggets face important decisions in the offseason, including potentially elevating David Adelman to head coach and finding a new general manager. If Westbrook remains with the team, he could provide valuable depth to the roster as they aim for a deep playoff run.

In conclusion, Aaron Gordon’s commitment to helping Russell Westbrook win a championship remains strong. With Westbrook potentially staying in Denver, Gordon could have one more shot at achieving their shared goal. As the Nuggets look to make key personnel decisions in the offseason, the duo’s partnership could be a crucial factor in their pursuit of NBA glory.
